IMEE MARCOS – The Senator joked about Senator Robin Padilla almost hitting Sen. Joel Villanueva and also mentioned her shouting at Sen. Risa Hontiveros.

Last Monday, following the move of the Senate Minority, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero took his oath as the presiding officer of the impeachment court against the trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. On the following day, the rest of the senators took their oath as the judges of the impeachment court.

However, several unexpected scenario took place on the eve of Tuesday including Sen. Robin Padilla almost hitting Sen. Joel Villanueva. The lawmakers in the upper chamber argued over the legal proceedings and what is allowed and what is not until they convene as an impeachment court.

The senators intervened to stop Padilla and Villanueva so there won’t be a fight inside the Senate. Meanwhile, Sen. Padilla later on hugged and apologized Sen. Villanueva. The said incident was recently brought up by Sen. Imee Marcos at an event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Sen. Imee Marcos and Sen. Robin Padilla joined Vice Pres. Sara Duterte in the Philippine Independence Day event in Kuala Lumpur with the Filipino community there. Based on a report on GMA News, at the event, the Presidential sister joked about Padilla almost hitting Villanueva as well as her “shouting” at Sen. Risa Hontiveros.

“Higit sa lahat, kamuntik nang buntalin si Senator Joel Villanueva. Maisug kami talaga. Ako nasigawan ko si Risa Hontiveros. Sorry ha, pasensya,” Marcos said.

Senators Padilla and Marcos are among those who voted for the return of the articles of impeachment against Duterte to the House of Representatives. Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero previously clarified that the move does not equate to the dismissal of the case but allegedly a chance to answer some questions. The Senate asks the constitutionality of the impeachment case against the Vice President.

At the event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Sen. Robin Padilla called Vice Pres. Sara Duterte the “next president of the Philippines”. It drew cheers from the crowd. Despite her looming impeachment trial, the Vice President is seen as one possible presidential candidates in the 2028 Elections.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke about the 2028 presidential election.
