DSWD to Help ‘Imburnal Girl’ Through Rehab
IMBURNAL GIRL – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced that “Rose,” the woman who went viral after crawling out of a drainage in Makati, will be sent to a drug rehabilitation program. This decision came after Rose admitted to occasionally using illegal drugs during a check-up by social workers from the DSWD’s Pag-abot Program, which helps people living on the streets.
Marlyn Moral, the head of the Pag-abot Program, explained that rehabilitation is part of their caring and complete approach to help people in difficult situations. DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian assured that the agency will support Rose in turning her life around and becoming a responsible member of society.
“We, in the DSWD, are confident that with all the appropriate interventions, a better Rose will emerge—a Rose whose dignity and self-worth are restored, ready and able to become a productive member of society,” said Gatchalian. He added that the DSWD does more than give material aid; they help people regain hope and a positive view of themselves despite their struggles.

Rose became known to many when a video of her coming out of a drainage in Makati went viral. She recently appeared on the show Pinoy Pawnstars, where she openly talked about her occasional drug use. This honesty allowed social workers to create a plan to support her recovery.
Moral also said that the DSWD does not judge or discriminate against people living on the streets. They work closely with other agencies to help Rose and her partner make positive changes and prepare to return to society after the rehabilitation.

In short, the DSWD is hopeful that with kindness and proper support, Rose can overcome her challenges and build a better life for herself and her family.
