Statement of Comelec on VP Sara Duterte Remarks against Results of 2025 Elections
COMELEC – Commission on Elections chairman George Garcia was asked about the remarks of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte against the results of the 2025 Midterm Elections.
In the 2025 Midterm Elections, the children of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte fervently campaigned for the PDP-Laban candidates or the #Duter10. According Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, her father really called her to request her to campaign for his party’s senatorial bets.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is the chairman of the PDP-Laban is detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands for more than three (3) months now. His political party endorsed the senatorial bid of the following:
- Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go
- Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa
- Congressman Rodante Marcoleta
- singer Jimmy Bondoc
- Jayvee Hinlo
- Raul Lambino
- actor Philip Salvador
- Atty. Victor Rodriguez
- Pastor Apollo Quiboloy
- Doc Marites Mata
Before the Election Day, the PDP-Laban adopted the two (2) other senatorial bets supported by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte — Sen. Imee Marcos and Las Piñas District Representative Camille Villar, as their guest candidates. The Vice President claimed her senatorial bets share a common vision of a progressive and peaceful country.
However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was disappointed by the results of the 2025 Senatorial Election. Only five (5) of the senatorial candidates she endorsed made it to the Senate Magic 12. They are the following:
- Sen. Imee Marcos
- Las Piñas district Rep. Camille Villar
- Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go
- Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa
- Congressman Rodante Marcoleta
The Vice President called on the Filipino people to help make a stronger opposition. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed her doubts on the results of the 2025 Elections. According to her, more candidates of the PDP-Laban should have won seats in the Senate.
Duterte claimed she talked to IT experts who allegedly said that the numbers were impossible. She also suggested to the PDP-Laban to ask the Comelec about the process of the canvassing of votes.
Recently, Comelec chairman George Garcia was asked about the remarks of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte against the 2025 Elections results. Based on a post on ABS-CBN News, the Comelec Chairman refused to comment and expressed respect on the view of the Vice President.
“No comment. An expression of opinion by anyone in a democracy is free and therefore should be highly respected,” the Comelec Chairman said.
Recently, in her Independence Day message, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that corruption in the government is allegedly one of the challenges against the freedom of the country.
