Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Issues over the Performance on Some Gov’t Officials
BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President spoke on the issues and assessment of the performance of government officials.
Following the 2025 Elections, Pres. Marcos ordered his Cabinet secretaries to resign from their positions. Initially, it was reported that the Chief Executive wants a revamp in the administration. Malacañang claimed that the resignation call of Marcos Jr. was because be does not want lazy and corrupt government officials. The Palace also assured that the President will act fast on the courtesy resignations.

The call of Marcos Jr. for his Cabinet secretaries’ resignation followed his previous statement that the results of the 2025 Midterm Elections show that the people are disappointed by the services of the government. Only six (6) senatorial candidates endorsed by the Marcos administration won seats in the Senate.

Recently, in a sit-down interview with Cheryl Cosim, Pres. Bongbong Marcos confirmed that his move to call for a courtesy resignation among his Cabinet secretaries was part of the “continuing performance review” that he wants for government officials. Based on a video of the interview posted by News5 on YouTube, the Chief Executive stressed that he is really against the “business as usual”.

According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the government will now be very keen in achieving targets efficiently. He stressed that the move applies not only to major projects but as well as to small ones.
“Ayoko talaga ‘yung ‘business as usual’ kasi ang dami nating problema, naging problema ‘yan kasi ‘business as usual’ tayo ng katagal-tagal… Mula ngayon, we will be very very conscientious on hitting our targets on time,” the President said.
Furthermore, during the interview, Pres. Bongbong Marcos affirmed that “the entire government is on probation”. According to him, when it comes to government officials that he shares a good bond with, he stressed that it is not about friendship nor love for each other but service to the people.
The Chief Executive also claimed receiving reports from government agencies that are really different from the reality. Thus, he stressed the importance of really visiting to see the projects personally.
“It’s very different to receive, makatanggap ka ng report na sasabihin, ‘natapos namin ang project, ito ang ginastos namin’. Picture na maganda pero pag pinuntahan mo iba, iba talaga… Maganda ‘yung report. Alam mo na ang taong ‘yung hindi nagsisinungaling sa’yo. The other side binola ako nitong mga lokong ‘to,” he said.
During the interview, Pres. Bongbong Marcos confirmed that he has fired many government officials but those were quietly done. According to him, he wants inefficient government officials to get out of the way so the government can do its job.
“If you’re not helping, get out of the way. Kung ‘di mo kami tutulungan, umalis ka nalang dito. Gawin mo ang gusto mong gawin pero pabayaan mo kami magtabaho. That’s my attitude all the time,” the President said.
Previously, amid the Cabinet secretaries making courtesy resignations, there was a call for Pres. Bongbong Marcos to resign — which he rejected saying he does not run away from problems.
