Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s Impeachment Trial Anew
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President claimed that it is allegedly clear that the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte will cross the 20th Congress.
The impeachment process against Vice Pres. Duterte is a subject of several discussions in the recent months. The Vice President was impeached by the House of Representatives last February 5. Currently, countless Filipinos await for the trial to push through.

However, the recent changes in the schedule for the impeachment process against Duterte sparked speculations that there might be no trial that will happen. Amid the different reactions on the postponement of the reading of the articles of impeachment from June 2 to June 11, opposition Sen. Risa Hontiveros said the Senate Minority will take a move for the opening of Duterte’s impeachment trial.

On the eve of Monday, Senators Risa Hontiveros and Koko Pimentel moved so Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero can take his oath as the presiding officer of the impeachment court in Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s trial. The Senate also adopted the motion of Sen. Joel Villanueva on the taking of oath by the rest of the senators as judges of the impeachment court.

The senators are set to take their oath as judges today. Amid the issue on whether or not the impeachment trial against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will cross the 20th Congress with only a few days left for the 19th Congress, Pres. Bongbong Marcos expressed certainty to it.

Based on a report on GMA News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that it is clear that the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will cross the 20th Congress. He stressed that there is no way that the trial will be finished in the 19th Congress.
“Why? What is the controversy? It is very clear that it will. Because there is no way that even if they start the trial now, that they will finish it before the new Senators come in,” the President said.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that the decision on the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte lies on the senators. Based on the report, he also reiterated that the impeachment trial is within the functions of the upper chamber.
”It has moved already from the House. It has now been in the Senate for a few months. We are watching, of course, what the Senate President, Chiz Escudero, is doing to try to make it as a peaceful transition as possible from this Congress to the next,” he expressed.
Recently, Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas also reacted to the delay in the impeachment trial against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte calling it “a sin”.
