Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Confirms Studying Current Election To Ensure Strategies in Future Poll
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President clarified that she has yet to decide on the 2028 presidential elections citing different factors that should be considered.
Many candidates in the fast-approaching May 2025 Elections are currently busy in their pursuit to reach more people before the campaign period ends. Vice Pres. Duterte is also busy campaigning for her senatorial bets in the upcoming midterm elections.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is endorsing Sen. Imee Marcos, the PDP-Laban bets, and Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar, the daughter of business giant Manny Villar, in the upcoming senatorial race. Villar is in the pursuit of exchanging positions with her mother, Sen. Cynthia Villar.

According to the Vice President, her senatorial bets share a common vision of “a peaceful and prosperous country”. She has joined several campaign sorties to endorse her candidates for the upcoming elections. Duterte also called on the Filipinos not to vote for the candidates of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also revealed that she and her siblings have committed to campaign fervently for the PDP-Laban candidates as requested by their father, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. The former Chief Executive is currently detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague, Netherlands.
VP Sara’s younger sister Kitty Duterte has joined the PDP-Laban campaign sortie to campaign for the #Dutert10. Here are the senatorial candidates supported by their father:
- Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go
- Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa
- Congressman Rodante Marcoleta
- singer Jimmy Bondoc
- Jayvee Hinlo
- Raul Lambino
- actor Philip Salvador
- Atty. Victor Rodriguez
- Pastor Apollo Quiboloy
- Doc Marites Mata

With regards to the possibility of running for president in the 2028 Elections, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte clarified that she has yet to decide on it. She confirmed that she is currently studying this election to ensure the strategies in the future polls but she has yet to decide on the next presidential elections.
“Hindi ko talaga masagot iyan. Subukan natin pagkatapos ng eleksyon. Pagkatapos namin mag-assess sa nangyari na eleksyon, na midterm elections, iyong kampanya namin,” she said.
According to the Vice President, the number of pro-Duterte candidates who will win in the May 2025 Elections will not affect her decision whether or not to run for president in 2028. However, according to her, there are other factors that should be considered like the budget and machinery.
“Nandiyan din iyong factors ng pondo, machinery, at lahat na. Yes, nakita natin na puwedeng walang ganyan ang isang kandidato noong 2016 kay President Duterte pero iba kasi iyong situation noong 2016 at iban iyong sitwasyon ngayon,” the Vice President said.
Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said she expects that the attacks and criticisms against their family intensified in the coming days. Currently, amid her facing a looming impeachment trial and her father being detained in the Hague, assault complaints were filed against her brother, Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte.
“Kasi, desperate people, they can think of the worst things to do,” Duterte said.
After she claimed that the complaints against her brother are allegedly mere politicking, Malacañang asked why the complaint against Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte is still being blamed on Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
