His daughter, actress Ara Davao, confirmed the news through an emotional post on Instagram. While she did not disclose specific details about his illness, she shared that Ricky had fought his condition courageously and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children and loved ones.
Ara described her father as a man who devoted more than 40 years of his life to the world of film and television. She emphasized not only his professional achievements but also his role as a loving and devoted family member — a father, brother, son, and friend to many. According to her, Ricky’s long and meaningful contribution to the entertainment industry will continue to inspire future generations.

Meanwhile, Ricky Davao, born Frederick Charles Abiera Davao, was a renowned actor and television director whose career spanned nearly five decades. He was the son of veteran actor Charlie Davao and Emma Marie Abiera, and had two brothers who were also involved in the entertainment industry.

Ricky began his showbiz career as a dancer for the Vicor Crowd group and quickly transitioned into acting, debuting in the 1978 film Patayin si Mediavilla. He gained recognition for his versatility in film, television, and theatre, including his notable portrayal of a fictionalized Bongbong Marcos in the 1980s play Bongbong at Kris.
In his personal life, Ricky married actress Jackie Lou Blanco in 1989. They had three children together before separating in 2011. The two briefly reunited onscreen in 2021. In later years, he was in a relationship with a woman named Maica.
