PBBM Declines to Comment on Imee Marcos’s Statement
PBBM – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. chose not to comment on a statement made by his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, about past political mistakes. When asked for his reaction, the President simply said, “No comment,” as confirmed by Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro during a press briefing on May 30.
Senator Imee made her statement a day earlier, on May 29, after meeting with Atty. Nicholas Kaufman, the legal counsel of former President Rodrigo Duterte. In a Facebook post, she expressed support for Vice President Sara Duterte and former President Duterte. She shared that she understands how painful it is to be away from one’s country. She said, “Sabi ko kay VP Inday Sara Duterte, higit kanino man, alam ko ang pakiramdam ng mawalay sa sariling bayan, kaya’t simula’t sapul alam niya ang laman ng aking puso patungkol sa di katanggap-tanggap na sinapit ni PRRD.”
Senator Imee also said she is not trying to create drama but wants to find real solutions. She added, “Hindi ako naghintay ng 39 years para lang magkamali muli, may Marcos na natuto sa kasaysayan. Narito ako hindi para sa isang tao, kundi para sa sambayanang Pilipino.”
Her statement caught the public’s attention because it discussed learning from the past and being responsible. Despite this, President Marcos chose not to respond and remained silent about the issue, even though many were closely watching.
Meanwhile, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is the current President of the Philippines. He is the son of the late Ferdinand Marcos Sr., a former president known for his long rule.
