Motovlogger Faces Backlash for Pulling Child’s Shorts on a Moving Jeepney

Motovlogger Chases Jeepney, Pulls Child’s Shorts – Netizens React

YHASSOTRUE – The motovlogger is facing backlash online after posting a video that many viewers found disturbing.

In the now-deleted clip, he was seen riding his motorcycle in Manila when he spotted three children clinging to the back of a moving jeepney to get a free ride. While following the vehicle, he reached out and tugged at the shorts of one of the children before eventually slowing down.

Many people on social media reacted with concern and criticism, pointing out that his actions were dangerous and irresponsible. One commenter said, “That was very risky—what was he thinking?” Another added, “He did it just for views. What if the kid had fallen off? The jeep was moving fast.”

Meanwhile, the term “kamote rider” is used to describe motorcycle riders who drive recklessly and break traffic rules. These riders often speed, weave through traffic, counterflow, and perform dangerous stunts. “Kamote,” which means sweet potato, is used here to mock drivers who act carelessly on the road.

Recently, there have been several alarming incidents involving kamote riders. In January 2025, a speeding, unlicensed rider crashed into an elderly couple near a subdivision. The rider died on the spot, and the elderly woman later passed away from her injuries. In another case, a motovlogger died while performing stunts along Marilaque Highway, a known hotspot for risky motorcycle behavior.

Because of these incidents, authorities are stepping up their efforts. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) suspended the license of a rider who tried to avoid traffic rules by covering his plate number in a social media video. The LTO has also teamed up with motorcycle groups to patrol Marilaque Road. Meanwhile, lawmakers are pushing for an “Anti-Kamote Driving” bill to help prevent such dangerous behavior and make roads safer for everyone.
