VMX Star Karen Lopez Explains Why She Went Missing
KAREN LOPEZ — The VMX actress has finally spoken out about her sudden disappearance after more than a week of silence. On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Karen broke her silence through a heartfelt Facebook post, just hours after the Quezon City Police District urged her family to file a formal missing person report.
In her message, Karen explained that she had been going through a heavy personal struggle, both mentally and emotionally. She admitted that the overwhelming situation led her to step away without informing anyone. She apologized to everyone who was affected or worried by her sudden absence.
“Pasensya na talaga kung bigla akong nawala nitong mga nakaraang araw,” Karen wrote. “Kailangan ko lang munang magpahinga at mag-focus sa sarili. Dumaan ako sa mga bagay na medyo mabigat mentally and emotionally, at napagtanto kong kailangan kong unahin ang well-being ko—even if that meant stepping back for a while.”
Karen expressed her gratitude to those who checked on her and offered support during her time away. She assured everyone that she is slowly recovering and taking things one step at a time. “Alam kong may ilan sa inyo ang nag-alala o nagtaka, at sobrang na-appreciate ko ang messages at support ninyo. Slowly, I’m getting better and trying to comeback stronger, one step at a time.”
Concern over Karen’s safety began on May 6, 2025, when her manager, Lito de Guzman, posted on Facebook that she had gone missing. He last saw Karen around 12 P.M. on May 5. According to Lito, Karen was reportedly picked up by her boyfriend at her condo unit, but afterward, both became unreachable. She also failed to show up for the final shooting day of her VMX film Maalikaya, which heightened the concern.
Although her disappearance was said to have been reported through a police blotter, ABS-CBN News later confirmed that there was no official police record of the case. Karen ended her message by thanking everyone for their understanding and assured her followers that she is now focused on healing and slowly getting her life back on track.
