Sen. Imee Marcos Reelection Bid Successful despite Alyansa Exit
IMEE MARCOS – The reelected Senator admitted that she wants to be part of the “Duterte bloc” in the Senate when the 20th Congress opens in July.
Sen. Marcos is one of the incumbent senators in the Senate who bid for reelection in the 2025 Midterm polls is successful. She climbed the 12th spot with 13,339,227 votes. During the Proclamation Ceremony, she was accompanied by her sons and former First Lady Imelda Marcos.
Sen. Imee Marcos wore the barong of her late father, former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. at the Proclamation Ceremony. She has always been vocal about her loyalty to her late father’s teachings and her constant pursuit to keep his “legacy”.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte joked the Sen. Marcos must change her last name. The Senator responded to it saying she does not thinks she needs to change her last name because she is true to the teachings of the late former President.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte campaigned fervently for Sen. Imee Marcos, Las Piñas District Representative Camille Villar, and the PDP-Laban candidates or the #Duter10. Five (5) bets of the Vice President won in the 2025 Elections.
Following her victory in her reelection bid in the 2025 Senatorial Election, Sen. Imee Marcos confirmed her decision to join the “Duterte bloc” in the Senate when the 20th Congress opens based on a report on Inquirer. Amid the incoming opening of the 20th Congress in July, there are also talks over the possibility if a change in leadership in the Senate.
Senator-elect Tito Sotto who served as the chief of the Senate prior to the end of his third term in the upper chamber expressed his openness to be the Senate president in the 20th Congress if he has the numbers. Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero was reportedly unbothered by the statement of Sotto.
Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos also claimed that there are senators who want her to be the Senate President.
