Sen. Imee Marcos Submits Senate Committee’s Findings over Duterte’s Arrest to Ombudsman
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator who led the Senate committee’s investigation over former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s arrest submitted their findings to the Ombudsman.
Unexpectedly, Sen. Marcos sided with the Dutertes in the controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. According to her, she cannot accept what was done to the former President. She opened a Senate investigation on the arrest of Duterte.

Sen. Imee Marcos left the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago led by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to her, the recent actions of the government over Duterte’s arrest do not match her ideals and principles in life. She prefers to campaign with her local candidate friends as she seeks reelection in the Senate.

The Senate Foreign Relations committee conducted three (3) hearings over Duterte’s arrest. Several government officials appeared at the first and third hearings led by Sen. Marcos. She recently confirmed that her findings are ready.

Based on a report on GMA News, Sen. Imee Marcos submitted the findings of the Senate committee over Duterte’s arrest to the Ombudsman. The presidential sister and Senator suggested the Ombudsman to investigate some key officials in the arrest of the former President. They are as follows:
- Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla
- Interior Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla
- PNP chief Police Gen. Rommel Marbil
- CIDG chief Police Gen. Nicolas Torre III
- Special Envoy for Transnational Crimes Markus Lacanilao
Based on the report, Sen. Imee Marcos expressed her belief that the Ombudsman is not biased and is not afraid to implement the sanctions to those who have violated the laws. The Senator requested the Ombudsman to investigate the above-mentioned officials and sanction them if they violated the laws.
“We expect the Ombudsman to proceed with the investigation kasi nga hinaharang ito sa Senado. Nahihirapan kami na kumuha ng testigo,” Marcos said.
Previously, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero and Sen. Imee Marcos threw tirades against each other. She even called the Senate Chief the “ambitious one”.
