Days Before Freddie Aguilar’s Passing, His Wife Shares a Hugot Post

JOVIE ALBAO – The wife of legendary Filipino folk musician Freddie Aguilar took to social media to share a heartfelt message just days before the singer-songwriter’s passing.

Ka Freddie, known for his contributions to Original Pilipino Music (OPM), passed away early today, May 27, at around 1:30 a.m. while confined at the Philippine Heart Center. According to initial reports, the cause of death was cardiac arrest.

The first to confirm his passing was lawyer George Briones, general counsel of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, where Freddie once served as national executive vice president.

A few days before Freddie’s death, Jovie posted on Facebook, expressing her gratitude to those who showed love and concern for her and their family. Along with a smiling photo of herself, she wrote a heartfelt message thanking everyone who reached out, even if she couldn’t respond to each one.

“Nakakatouched yung mga kinukumusta rin ako sa gitna ng kalagayan ni Freddie. Hindi ko kayo maisa-isa replayan pero wag kayo mag alala ok lang ako, always finding courage in the face of fear,” she wrote.

She acknowledged that it had been an emotionally difficult week, full of moments that brought her to tears. Still, she said she couldn’t afford to be weak. “Kailangan ko palaging maging malakas para mabantayan ko sya oras-oras.”

Jovie emphasized that Freddie’s condition was their top priority, and she apologized for not sharing more detailed updates, explaining that the information was kept within the family and close friends. She reassured everyone that Freddie was in good hands and receiving all the necessary medical attention.

She also mentioned that Freddie couldn’t use his phone yet but promised to relay all the messages of love and support sent to him. “To my dearest close friends, don’t worry about me. Magpapahinga tayo pag pagod na tapos lalaban ulit,” she added.

In a separate post, Jovie continued to show resilience. She shared a photo of her coffee taken at the Philippine Heart Center, captioned: “Stay strong, things will get better. It may be stormy now, but it can’t rain forever.”
