Once a respected and elegant school leader who wore heels and carried herself with confidence, Dr. Barcelo now lives a modest life in Barangay San Juan, Morong, Rizal. She sometimes sells fruits in the market and no longer enjoys basic comforts such as electricity or running water.
Clarisse approached her former principal with warmth, greeting her like a long-lost relative. Although Dr. Barcelo didn’t recognize her, she was clearly delighted to be remembered. Despite the drastic change in her circumstances, she remained positive, humble, and full of wisdom. During their conversation, she shared life lessons that left a deep impact on Clarisse.
Dr. Barcelo emphasized that dignity doesn’t depend on job titles. She said that any honest work is something to be proud of.
