Hoping to Find Mr. Right, Comedian Runs Marathon in a Wedding Dress
TESS TREGELLAS – A 28-year-old stand-up comedian from Brooklyn, New York, made headlines when she joined the Brooklyn Half Marathon on May 17, 2025—not in athletic wear, but in a full wedding gown. Unlike other runners dressed in proper gear, Tess stood out with her unique outfit, hoping to find her future husband at the finish line.
In an Instagram video posted two days later, Tess joked that she might finally meet the man she would someday say “I do” to. “My husband might be at the finish line,” she said with a laugh. However, after finishing the race, she told the New York Post that no romantic connections were made. “No proposals from any man. Honestly, I think I scare men away,” she joked.
Still, her gesture was warmly received—especially by the women in the crowd. “That’s really what it’s for,” Tess said. “To encourage women that you can be a bride any day of your life.” On the back of her dress, she had written “Just hopeful”—a playful spin on the classic “Just married” sign seen on newlyweds’ cars.

Tess completed the race in 2 hours, 33 minutes, and 44 seconds, but she wasn’t focused on her time. Her main goal was to spread good vibes and make people smile. “I love race day energy, and while I do enjoy running, I prefer running in a wedding dress,” she said.
This wasn’t her first time running in bridal attire. She did the same thing the previous year and frequently shares her quirky marathon adventures with her 203,000 Instagram followers. She even once chased shirtless, attractive runners during a marathon on Manhattan’s West Side Highway—earning laughs, if not dates. “And as a comedian, that’s the goal.”

This June, Tess is set to perform a solo comedy show titled EPIC at the Slipper Room on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The show will highlight her humorous, and sometimes awkward, experiences with modern dating. “It’s about a hopeless romantic looking for something epic in a world of casual dating,” she shared.
