British Boxer Georgia O’Connor Dies After Cancer Battle

GEORGIA O’CONNOR – A promising British professional boxer, has sadly passed away at the young age of 25.

Her promoter, Boxxer, confirmed the heartbreaking news through an Instagram post on May 22, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of someone they described as a true warrior, both inside and outside the ring. The message paid tribute to her strength, courage, and the respect and admiration she earned within the boxing community.

Earlier this year, Georgia revealed that she was battling cancer, following a previous struggle with ulcerative colitis, a chronic condition that affects the digestive system by causing painful inflammation and ulcers. Despite these health challenges, she remained hopeful and strong, continuing to inspire those around her.

In a touching and emotional update just days before her passing, Georgia shared on social media that she had married the love of her life. The couple exchanged vows on May 9, 2025, a moment she cherished and proudly posted about online.

Georgia O’Connor was born on February 18, 2000, in Durham, England. She was a skilled and determined boxer who gained attention early in her career. She started boxing at a young age and quickly stood out in amateur competitions. Among her major achievements were a gold medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games, a silver at the 2017 Youth World Championships, and a bronze at the 2018 Youth World Championships. These awards reflected her strong talent and commitment to the sport.

Aside from boxing, Georgia was also successful in other sports. She won three national taekwondo titles and remained undefeated in kickboxing. Her experience in different combat sports helped her become an even better boxer. She also focused on her studies, pursuing civil engineering, and loved music—often spending time playing the guitar and singing.

In 2021, Georgia turned professional and signed with Ben Shalom’s Boxxer promotion. She went on to win all three of her professional fights, proving that she had great promise in her boxing career.
