Bongbong Marcos Cites “Process” over Sara Duterte’s Impeachment: Let’s leave it to Senate

Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Impeachment of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte amid Feud

BONGBONG MARCOS – The President was asked if he could categorically say that he is against the impeachment of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.

Despite Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero’s series of refusal to immediately begin the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, he previously stressed that the impeachment trial will push through amid the detention of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte abroad. The Vice President stayed in The Hague for more than three (3) weeks and met with her lawyers for her impeachment trial upon her return to the country in April.

According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, her lawyers are “more than confident” to win the impeachment trial. Malacañang previously called it an alleged strategy. The Palace has also repeatedly claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos will not meddle in the trial.

The Duterte camp claims that the President and his administration allegedly want her removed from office. Aside from the looming impeachment trial, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) also filed charges against her over her ‘kill’ remarks against the President.

Duterte was impeached by the House of Representatives which is led by presidential cousin and House Speaker Martin Romualdez last February 5. Based on a report on Inquirer, on the question of broadcaster Anthony Taberna, the President did not give a categorical answer but stressed that there is a process for the impeachment of a public official.

“The impeachment is now with the Senate. Let’s leave it to them, there is a process for that,” he said.

Based on the report, Marcos Jr. also stressed that the election is over and they should return to work. He and the Vice President endorsed different senatorial slate in this midterm election.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos endorsed the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago senatorial slate while Vice Pres. Sara Duterte campaigned for Senator Imee Marcos, Las Piñas district Representative Camille Villar, and the PDP-Laban bets. Both Marcos Jr. and Duterte endorsed Manny Villar’s daughter. Following her victory in the senatorial election, newly-elected Sen. Camille Villar thanked Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
