Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Asks Why P20 per Kilo Rice Not Implemented in Luzon, Mindanao
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President reacted to the sale of rice in Visayas to P20 per kilo as announced by the Department of Agriculture.
One of the things that countless Filipinos await following the victory of Pres. Bongbong Marcos in the 2022 Elections is the reduction of the rice cost to Php 20 per kilo. Last year, the President expressed that the country has yet to arrive to the goal but is on its way there.
Amid the tension between her and Pres. Marcos, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously urged the public to demand the fulfillment of the P20 per kilo rice promise of the President. The two (2) top officials in the government who were a tandem in the 2022 polls had a falling out in their ties which was triggered again by the recent arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Recently, Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. announced that a sale of P20 per kilo rice will be implemented in Visayas. Based on a post on the Facebook page behind the username Meh Lody, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte accused the government of allegedly fooling the people again.
According to Vice Pres. Duterte, it is allegedly doubtful why the P20 per kilo rice sale will only be implemented in Visayas and not in Luzon and Mindanao. She raised a question if the people in the two (2) regions are not experiencing hunger.
Furthermore, Duterte also claimed that there is allegedly a meeting at the capitol in Cebu that gathered most of the governors in Visayas. According to her, the administration probably have a problem in their votes from the people in Visayas.
“Binubudol na naman nila ‘yung mga tao sa P20 per kilo na bigas at magdududa ka bakit Visayas lang? Hindi ba nagugutom ‘yung mga taga Mindanao? Hindi ba nagugutom ‘yung mga taga-Luzon? Bakit P20 per kilo lang dito sa Visayas at bakit merong meeting sa Cebu capitol ang lahat ng mga governors o karamihan ng mga governors sa Visayas. So baka may problema sila sa boto dito sa Visayas,” the Vice President said based on the post.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte recently visited Visayas to extend her help to the victims of the recent eruption of Mt. Kanlaon. She went to the municipality of La Castellana in the province of Negros Occidental and talked to the people there. Vice Pres. Duterte is expected to return to The Hague, Netherlands where former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently detained.
