Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Own Senatorial Bets for May 2025 Midterm Polls
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President defended her decision to endorse Senator Imee Marcos, Las Piñas City Representative Camille Villar, and the PDP Laban bets.
The May 2025 Midterm Polls is fast approaching. Both local and national elections are set to be held this May 12. However, ahead of the elections, the controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has divided the supporters of the Dutertes and Marcoses.
Amid the political turmoil in the Philippine government due to the arrest of former Pres. Duterte, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte endorsed Sen. Imee Marcos in a viral “ITIM” campaign ad. According to the Vice President, black is allegedly the color of the country now due to hunger and criminality.
The viral campaign ad of Vice Pres. Duterte endorsing Sen. Marcos gained different reactions from the members of the online community. The Senator led the Senate Foreign Relations committee on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
According to Sen. Imee Marcos, she could not accept what was done to Duterte. She believes that there is seemingly no due process in the arrest of the former President. She also left the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago led by her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Previously, amid the confusion of the public, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reaffirmed her friendship with Sen. Imee Marcos. The Vice President is also willing to attend the Senate hearings led by the presidential sister. She previously expressed her gratitude for the investigation in the Senate regarding her father’s arrest but she stressed that she has no call on including Marcos in the senatorial slate of the PDP-Laban, the former President’s party.
Based on a report on Manila Bulletin, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte defended her endorsement of Sen. Imee Marcos, the PDP Laban, as well as Las Piñas City Rep. Camille Villar. According to the Vice President, it will unite the country in a common vision.
“The #Duter10 senatorial candidates, running under former President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s PDP Laban, together with reelectionist Senator Imee Marcos and Representative Camille Villar, are united by a common vision—a peaceful and prosperous Philippines,” she said.
Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the vision of Sen. Imee Marcos, Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar, and the PDP Laban bets is “solid enough to break through the walls of the existing political division in the country”.
Previously, amid the speculations that Camille Villar is being endorsed by VP Sara, the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago‘s campaign manager spoke on it.
