PCO Confirms President Marcos, First Lady Paid Nora Aunor’s Hospital Bills

Nora Aunor’s Medical Bills Shouldered by Marcos Couple — PCO

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos personally paid the hospital bills and other outstanding debts of the late National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, Nora Aunor. This was confirmed by Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Senior Undersecretary Analisa “Ana” Puod during a media interview on April 27, 2025.

According to Puod, it was not the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) that covered Nora’s hospital expenses, but rather the Office of the President and President Marcos himself. She clarified that aside from the government-provided medical assistance of up to P750,000 annually for National Artists, both President Marcos and the First Lady also used their personal funds to cover the remaining bills, debts, and other expenses. Since Nora was confined to a private hospital, her total medical expenses exceeded the government’s coverage limit.

Puod emphasized that the First Couple did not only settle her hospital bills but also took care of other financial obligations she left behind. However, the PCO official did not disclose the total amount or specify which expenses were covered.

Prior to the intervention of the President and First Lady, several individuals and companies from the entertainment industry had already extended financial assistance to Nora’s family, recognizing the Superstar’s long history of kindness and generosity.

Following Nora Aunor’s passing on April 16, 2025, many stories surfaced about how she had quietly helped countless fans, fellow artists, directors, and crew members throughout her life — even during times when her own resources were running low. Her family and colleagues shared that money was never a priority for Nora; instead, she consistently showed a deep faith in God and a genuine desire to help others.

As the nation mourns her loss, many believe that the support she is now receiving reflects the love and generosity she so freely gave during her lifetime.
