The Meaning Behind the “Cookie ni Mocha” Campaign Chant of Mocha Uson

MOCHA USON – The former PCOO Assistant Secretary and current Manila District 3 councilor candidate Mocha Uson caught public attention during her proclamation rally on March 30, 2025. Running under the “Yorme’s Choice” slate, Mocha energized the crowd with a unique campaign chant.

A video posted on her Facebook page, Mocha Uson Distrito Tres, shows her dancing to a campaign jingle centered around “Cookie ni Mocha.” The audience enthusiastically joined in as she led them in chanting, “Cookie ni Mocha!” to which the crowd responded, “Ang sarap-sarap!” (So delicious!). She even asked, “Natikman n’yo na ba ang cookie ni Mocha?” further engaging the attendees.

Mocha later explained the deeper meaning behind “Cookie ni Mocha,” emphasizing that it symbolizes hope and real change. In a Facebook post, she shared that the initiative began ten years ago as a small business, where she met Nanay Lourdes, a skilled baker who became a key partner in making the cookies.

However, when they discovered that Nanay Lourdes had Stage 4 breast cancer—just like Mocha’s mother—she decided to dedicate all earnings from Cookie ni Mocha to help fund the baker’s treatment.

What started as a simple business transformed into a healthcare advocacy, particularly for mothers battling serious illnesses. Now, Mocha is reviving Cookie ni Mocha, not just as a product but as a symbol of hope. She envisions it as part of her mission to support mothers and senior citizens in her district, ensuring better healthcare and opportunities for them.

Meanwhile, Mocha Uson, whose full name is Margaux Justiniano Uson, is a social media personality, singer, and political figure. She gained significant fame as a member of the controversial group Mocha Girls, a popular all-female dance group, and for her outspoken presence on social media. She became a prominent supporter of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte during his 2016 presidential campaign and later served as an assistant secretary in the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) under his administration.
