Maymay Entrata Opens Up About Mother’s Cancer Battle
MAYMAY ENTRATA – The Kapamilya actress-singer shared an emotional update about her personal life, revealing that her mother has been battling cancer for the past two years. She opened up during the Star Magic Spotlight press conference hosted by DJ Jhai Ho, speaking through tears as she shared what her family has been going through.
According to Maymay, her mother, Lorna, initially suffered from kidney complications, which eventually led to a cancer diagnosis. This has been the main reason behind Maymay’s frequent trips to Japan in recent months, where her mother received several medical treatments. Currently, her mother is back in Cagayan de Oro and continues to undergo regular dialysis.
In addition to her mother’s condition, Maymay also revealed that her grandmother is currently ill as well. “Sabay sila pero mas malubha lang yung sa nanay ko,” she shared.
Maymay admitted that they have been in and out of hospitals lately, and just the night before, they had to rush her mom to the hospital again. Despite everything, she asked the public not for sympathy but for prayers. “I just need your prayers lang, yun lang yun lang kailangan ko. Kaya isa sa mga pinakaayaw ko talagang mag-open up is ayoko yung parang ano ba…yung may awa kayo sa ‘kin,” she said.
She explained that she had been hesitant to open up about her struggles because she didn’t want people to pity her. However, she now feels it’s important for others to understand what she has been going through. “Yung nanay ko matagal nang may cancer, almost two years na. Kaya pabalik-balik ako sa Japan,” Maymay said. “apos ngayon, isa na lang sa pinaka-pinasasalamatan ko ay nakauwi siya two months ago. Kaya po hangga’t maaari po eh, nandiyan ako, kami (ng pamilya) kasama siya.”
Despite the emotional toll, Maymay expressed deep gratitude for her friends, family, colleagues, and bosses who have given her their unwavering support. She shared that there were times when she felt emotionally overwhelmed, but the people around her helped her get through it. Due to these personal challenges, she explained, her presence in showbiz has been on and off in recent years.
