Former Actress Marjorie Barretto Reacts To Claims of Dennis Padilla
MARJORIE BARRETTO – The former actress claimed that her daughter, Claudia, has a reason for not wanting Dennis Padilla to walk her down the aisle.
The wedding of Claudia Barretto and Basti Lorenzo was an intimate church wedding but it was surrounded by issues following the claims of the bride’s father, Dennis Padilla. He publicly expressed his disappointment for allegedly being treated as a “visitor” at the wedding of his daughter.
Claudia Barretto is the second daughter of Marjorie Barretto with Dennis Padilla. The former couple who got married in 1995 and whose marriage was annulled in 2009 has two other children together, Julia and Leon. Dennis Padilla claimed that he sees no reconciliation with his children following what allegedly happened at the wedding of her daughter. In an interview with Ogie Diaz, he claimed that he knows Claudia wants him to be there, to walk her down the aisle, and sit in front, but it did not happen.
Recently, in an interview with Ogie Diaz, Marjorie Barretto broke her silence. She directly claimed that what Dennis Padilla allegedly wants to say but was not able to mention it in the whole interview is that she orchestrated the wedding to make him look like a fool. Contrary to the claim of Dennis that he believes Claudia does not like what happened, his ex-wife claimed that she was actually the one who convinced her to invite him.
Marjorie stressed that Claudia really wanted an intimate wedding. According to her, despite the couple coming from huge families, there were only around 100 people at the wedding ceremony that was held at St. James The Great Church in Muntinlupa.
“Claudia has been estranged. Si Claudia ang pinaka distant. Maybe there are different ways that the children cope. Itong leading to her wedding, she wanted it very private. Hindi niya shine-share ‘yung engagement. She was engaged for some time. And she didn’t wanna share the wedding. She wanted a peaceful… Hindi naman sila showbiz. Pero kino-convince ko sila, siya [Claudia], that the right thing to do is to invite the father.”
Marjorie Barretto also claimed that there were even instances when she would be asked about suggesting to Claudia to invite Dennis Padilla to her wedding. During the interview, the former actress said she told her daughter to pray about it as she believes that it is the right thing to do in starting a new phase in her life.
“God knows. Alam ng Diyos. Alam ng lahat ng mga anak ko. Sometimes it caused friction because they’re not friends eh. They’re estranged sila eh. I said, ‘You know what’s the right thing to do to start your life. Just think about it. I wasn’t getting anywhere. Minsan fini-feeling the iban, ‘Marjie, why are you forcing her to invite someone that she doesn’t want to be there?’ It’s a very intimate wedding eh… One day, I said, ‘ Claudia, pray about it. Don’t listen to me. Don’t listen to what I’m saying. Ipagdasal mo.”
According to Marjorie Barretto, Claudia agreed to invited Dennis Padilla to her wedding but she did not want him to walk her down the aisle. The actress expressed her hope that her daughter will not be bashed for her reason that walking down the aisle means handing over by a father who protected, provided, and raised his daughter to someone who will be the in-charge of her after the wedding. She stressed that Claudia and Dennis allegedly do not know a lot about each other.
“She didn’t want him to walk her down the aisle… Okay then I said, ‘Para walang gulo…’ I know him [Dennis] the most. I was with him for 14 years. The prime of his life, the peak of his temper. ‘Hindi na lang kita i-wawalk down the aisle…'” Itong conversation namin ni Claudia.”
During the interview, with regards to Dennis Padilla not being seated in front, Marjorie Barretto claimed that it was his choice. According to her, he allegedly wants to look like a victim in the situation and he has long sat on the side of the church. She stressed that she deserves her seat in front for raising their daughter “singlehandedly”.
Recently, amid the ongoing rift with his children, Dennis Padilla expressed seeking a Divine guidance.
