Malacañang Reacts To Imee Marcos ‘ITIM’ ad w/ Sara Duterte

Statement of Malacañang on Imee Marcos, Sara Duterte ‘ITIM’ ad

Malacañang reacted to the viral ‘ITIM’ ad of senatorial reelectionist Imee Marcos with Vice President Sara Duterte.

Following the controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte last March 11, Senator Imee Marcos left the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago led by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Then, the Senator claimed that she and her brother have not talked about the arrest of Duterte.

The Senator seemingly took swipe at her brother for not mentioning her name during the campaign sortie of the grand alliance in the huge province of Cavite. She skipped the campaign sorties of the Alyansa in Tacloban and in Cavite after Duterte’s arrest and it eventually led to making her departure from the team official.

According to Sen. Imee Marcos, she will just campaign as an individual candidate. She planned to join her friends who are candidates in the local elections. Malacañang previously expressed understanding on the decision of the Alyansa bets who chose to skip the campaign sorties following the controversial turn of events.

Recently, countless Filipinos were surprised when Vice Pres. Sara Duterte joined Sen. Imee Marcos in her ‘ITIM’ ad campaign for the election. The Vice President endorsed the Senator who is seeking for reelection in the upper chamber.

‘ITIM’ stands for “Inday Trusts Imee Marcos”. They were wearing black outfits in the said campaign ad to convey the alleged color of the Philippines now. In the said ad, Duterte said the Filipino people are mourning hunger and crimes in the country while Marcos said that the people are not only starving for food but for justice.

Recently, Malacañang reacted to the viral ‘ITIM’ ad of Sen. Imee Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on PhilStar, Palace Press Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said she thought it was a 2022 campaign ad as it allegedly describes the previous administration.

“Mas madi-describe siguro natin noong nakaraang administrasyon na sobrang itim at ngayon ay papaliwanag sa panahon ng kasalukuyang administrasyon,” she said.

Based on the report, the Malacañang press officer said that the country may not be that white now but it is already on its way. Castro also denied the claims in the ad that poverty is rampant in the country now. According to her, Pres. Bongbong Marcos is against the said kind of negative campaigning.

“Hindi po nais ng ating pangulo ang mga ganitong klaseng mga negatibo na pangangampaniya, lalung-lalo na po kung ito ay fake news. So, noon pa naman po ay sinabi na ng ating pangulo na labanan natin ang mga fake news,” the Malacañang Press Officer said.

Sen. Imee Marcos leads the Senate panel investigation on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Despite the probe and the recent pronouncements of the Senator, Duterte’s longtime partner Honeylet Avanceña is not convinced by the investigation of Sen. Imee Marcos.
