Half-Brother of JK Labajo Says Their Mom Deserves Respect
LOUIE STEPHAN REUYAN – The half-brother of singer-actor JK Labajo spoke out in response to JK’s interview with journalist Karen Davila.
In the interview, JK shared his life story, including how he was raised by his grandmother after his mother left him. He explained that his mother was young at the time and wanted to live her own life, and that he understood her decision. However, Stephan found these remarks deeply upsetting and misleading.
According to Stephan, their side of the family chose to remain silent for years—through JK’s previous interviews and even when his story was featured on MMK—out of respect for their late mother and for JK’s public image. But this time, he said, JK had crossed a line by saying their mother abandoned him. Stephan believes this portrayal is unfair and hurtful, especially since their mother can no longer speak for herself.

He emphasized that their mother never abandoned JK, even after having two more children. She worked tirelessly to provide a better life for all of them. While Stephan said he could endure the hurtful things JK has said about him, their brother Baste, and their father, he could not remain silent when it came to their mother.
Stephan also addressed JK’s claim that he tried to offer them help, particularly with their education. He stated that they never asked for, nor received, any assistance from JK, and that giving him credit would be unfair to those who genuinely supported them over the years.

Another issue he raised was that JK allegedly moved their mother’s remains without informing the family. Stephan said he reached out to JK between December 2024 and January 2025 for information but received no reply. Even their mother’s husband, Stephan added, was unaware of the transfer. He expressed that they had the right to know, as visiting her grave had been their only way of staying close to her memory.

Despite his frustrations, Stephan said he still hopes they can reconcile someday. However, he asked JK to stop suggesting that their mother abandoned him. All he wishes now is for their mother to be remembered with respect and allowed to rest in peace.
