Gabriel Go Issues Public Apology for Heated Exchange with Police Officer

GABRIEL GO – The head of the MMDA Special Operations Group-Strike Force issued a public apology after a heated exchange with a police officer during a clearing operation.

The incident, which went viral on social media, prompted Go to meet with National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan to address the issue. Go formally apologized, expressing regret to Commissioner Calinisan and Captain Felipe, the police officer involved.

He explained that he never intended to engage in inappropriate behavior or confrontation. Go sincerely asked for understanding and apologized for the situation, emphasizing that the incident was unintentional. His apology aimed to clarify the misunderstanding and resolve the matter professionally and respectfully.

“Nais ko pong formally humingi po ng unawa at humingi ng paumanhin, hindi lang po sa ating kagalang-galang na commissioner but also directly to Captain Felipe po. Sir, if you are listening to this, ako po ay humihingi ng paumanhin sa inyo dahil po sa nangyari. It’s not my intention na magkaroon po ng ganung hindi maayos na pangyayari at pakikitungo po,” he said.

Gabriel Go is the head of the MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) Special Operations Group-Strike Force. He is responsible for overseeing clearing operations and enforcing traffic regulations in Metro Manila. His role often involves working closely with local government officials, law enforcement agencies, and the public.

He previously faced controversy in June 2023 when a female traffic enforcer accused him of misconduct. As a result, he resigned from his position at the MMDA. However, in November 2023, he was rehired after no formal complaint was filed against him, raising questions about the decision to reinstate him. Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito later expressed concerns about Go’s reinstatement, questioning why someone with such allegations was allowed to return to his post.
