Pres. Bongbong Marcos Reacts To Findings of Sen. Imee Marcos’ Investigation on Duterte’s Arrest

BONGBONG MARCOS – The President admitted that he disagrees on the findings of Senator Imee Marcos’ investigation over former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s arrest.

Countless people were surprised when Sen. Imee Marcos sided with the Dutertes amid the controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. She led the Senate Foreign Relations committee investigation on the arrest of the former Chief Executive.

Sen. Imee Marcos also left the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago led by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to the Senator, following the investigation on Duterte’s arrest, the actions of the government do not align with her ideals and principles in life.

The Senator previously confirmed her rift with the President. According to her, she will just join her local candidates friends in campaigning for the upcoming May 2025 Elections. The President remained mum on the recent actions of her sister.

Following her return to the Philippines from The Hague, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte endorsed Sen. Imee Marcos through the viral “ITIM” campaign ad. The Vice President also campaigned for the Senator in several campaign sorties. She previously reaffirmed her friendship with the Senator.

After conducting three (3) Senate hearings on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Sen. Imee Marcos recently held a press conference to air her findings. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Senator suggested that the Ombudsman should investigate several Cabinet officials as they could allegedly be held liable for arbitrary detention, graft, usurpation of judicial functions, and grave misconduct.

Sen. Marcos was referring to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla , Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, Ambassador Markus V. Lacanilao, and Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Nicolas Torre III.

Previously, CIDG chief Nicolas Torre III confirmed that he did not allow former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to see Vice Pres. Sara Duterte prior to his flight to The Hague, Netherlands. Sen. Imee Marcos believes that the arrest of the former President was allegedly “politically motivated” and done through a “group effort”.

Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos reacted to the findings of her sister, Sen. Imee Marcos, following the Senate investigation over Duterte’s arrest. The Chief Executive expressed his openness on her opinion but admitted that he disagrees with it.

“Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I disagree,” he said.

Malacañang said that it is no longer doubtful if it is the opinion of Sen. Imee Marcos regarding the matter. According to Palace press officer Atty. Claire Castro, even before the hearing started, it is allegedly visible already on which side the Senator supports.

Amid the criticisms against him over the arrest of Duterte, CIDG chief Nicolas Torre was one of those promoted to police general.
