Sen. Bato dela Rosa Attends Sen. Imee Marcos’ Probe on Duterte’s Arrest
BATO DELA ROSA – The Senator made his first appearance in the Senate since the arrest of former Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte saying its his first time to return to Manila.
The controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte gained different reactions from the ordinary Filipinos as well as his fellow politicians. Undeniably, there are government officials who were disappointed by the unexpected turn of events.

Presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos was shocked by the arrest of Duterte. Following the controversial turn of events, Sen. Marcos left the Alyansa Para sa Pagbabago which was led by her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos. She expressed that the government’s recent actions do not align with the ideals and principles she believes in.

Marcos Jr. undeniably earned a lot of criticisms over the arrest of Duterte. He claimed that all necessary procedures were followed in the arrest. According to him, the government acted on it due to its commitment with the Interpol. Malacañang also defended the President from accusations that he allegedly betrayed the people and the country for surrendering Duterte to the foreign authorities.

Sen. Bato dela Rosa claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos committed “betrayal to the max” over Duterte’s arrest. The Senator who previously claimed that he is the number two target in the investigation of the International Criminal Court (ICC) previously claimed that he is ready to join Duterte in The Hague if all legal remedies fail.
However, Dela Rosa who was the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the implementation of the war on drugs campaign had a change of stand. The Senator admitted that he is considering hiding as an option in case the ICC will release an arrest warrant against him.
The former PNP Chief also echoed the stance of former Pres. Duterte that he won’t allow the foreign court to judge him and will only submit himself to be arrested if the warrant is released by a Philippine court. Recently, the Senator who is seeking re-election this May 2025 appeared for the first time in the Senate since the arrest of Duterte.

Based on a report on GMA News, before attending the Senate hearings, Sen. Bato dela Rosa talked to Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero and Sen. Imee Marcos. The presidential sister is leading a Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. She invited the former PNP Chief turned Senator.
According to Dela Rosa, it is his first time to return to Manila. He was previously spotted at the prayer rally for former Pres. Duterte in Liwasang Bonifacio last March 15.
“All over the Philippines, nagmo-motor ako,” the Senator said.
Based on the , Sen. Bato dela Rosa stressed that he needs to attend the Senate committee probe on the arrest of Duterte. He expects some clarifications from the resource persons invited in the investigation. However, Sen. Imee Marcos previously revealed that the cabinet officials will skip the day 2 of the Senate probe on Duterte’s arrest.
