Atty. Luke Espiritu Slams Mocha Uson’s Campaign Jingle

Mocha Uson’s Jingle Criticized by Atty. Luke Espiritu

ATTY. LUKE ESPIRITU – The labor leader and senatorial candidate criticized Mocha Uson’s campaign jingle, calling it disrespectful to women.

The jingle, which was part of Uson’s proclamation rally on March 30, 2025, featured her dancing to a tune about “Cookie ni Mocha,” with lyrics emphasizing how delicious the cookies are. Espiritu took to Facebook on April 1 to express his disapproval, claiming that the jingle objectifies women by reducing their value to their private parts.

He called out Uson, saying it was ironic for a woman to degrade other women, pointing out that her actions align with patriarchal views that oppress women. Espiritu further criticized Uson for embodying the flawed ideologies of the Duterte administration, which he argued have harmed women’s rights.

“‘April Fools’ nga ba ang isinunod sa Women’s Month? Pero seriously, mismong babae binabastos ang kababaihan–na ang halaga ng kababaihan ay nirereduce sa kanilang private parts,” Espiritu said. “Si Mocha mismo ay ahente ng patriyarka na umaapi sa kababaihan. At sya ang patotoo kung bakit ideolohiyang tanga ang Dutertismo,” he added.

At the time, Uson, a former assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) under President Duterte, was running for councilor in Manila’s District 3 under the “Yorme’s Choice” slate. The controversy has sparked public debate, with critics questioning the appropriateness of the jingle, while Uson defends it as a symbol of hope and empowerment for her constituents.

Meanwhile, Mocha Uson, whose full name is Margaux Justiniano Uson, is a social media personality, singer, and political figure. She gained fame as a member of the controversial all-female dance group Mocha Girls and for her outspoken presence on social media. She became a prominent supporter of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte during his 2016 presidential campaign and later served as an assistant secretary in the PCOO under his administration.
