Writer Calls Out Deanna Wong for Ignoring Fans

Writer Reminds Deanna Wong: ‘Kindness doesn’t cost a thing’

LACRUISER RELATIVO – The writer and maritime practitioner wrote an open letter about the controversy involving volleyball player and celebrity Deanna Wong.

The issue started when a viral video showed a woman approaching Wong, only to walk away shortly after their brief conversation while Wong was sitting on a bench watching a game. Many believed that Wong refused to take a selfie with the fan.

The video received mixed reactions online. Some people criticized Wong, bringing up past situations where she allegedly ignored fans who wanted to take photos with her. Others defended her, saying that people should respect her personal space and privacy. A delivery rider even spoke up in support of Wong, saying she is not rude or unfriendly, contrary to what some claim.

Relativo’s open letter, posted on Facebook on March 24, added to the discussion. He reminded Wong about the importance of gratitude and kindness, writing, “I don’t expect this message to ever reach you, but if it does, I just want to remind you—kindness doesn’t cost a thing. I’m not saying you’re a bad person, but I hope that if you look deep into your heart, you’ll find a sense of gratitude.”

He pointed out that Wong’s success did not come from her hard work alone. Her fans—who watched her games, cheered for her, and supported her—also played a big role in her career. He warned that the same people who helped her rise could also bring her down.

“This isn’t about a single instance—it’s happened multiple times. You have a reputation for ignoring fans, as if you never have the energy to even offer a smile. Sure, it’s not your duty to cater to them, but whether you’re an athlete or not, acknowledging the people who support you is simply the right thing to do,” he added.

He ended his letter by telling Wong not to act as if she cannot be replaced, reminding her that many other skilled athletes could take her place.

To clarify, Relativo said, “Hindi po ako nang bash. Im just stating a mere fact of her arrogance, angst, and misplaced pride. Thank you.” As of now, Wong has not responded to the issue despite attempts to reach her for a statement.
