Choi Wheesung Dies at 43
CHOI WHEESUNG – The well-known South Korean R&B singer was found dead in his apartment in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on March 10, 2025. He was 43 years old.
His talent agency, Tajoy Entertainment, confirmed the sad news, stating that Wheesung was found unconscious at 6:29 PM after a family member called the police. When emergency responders arrived, they found him lying on the floor of his home. The initial cause of death was reported as a heart attack, but authorities are also looking into the possibility of a drug overdose.
In an official statement, Tajoy Entertainment expressed deep sadness over his sudden passing. They said his death was heartbreaking for his family, colleagues, and fans. The agency asked for privacy and urged people not to spread false rumors. They also promised to share details about his funeral later.

Wheesung’s death happened just days before he was supposed to perform at a concert on March 15 with fellow singer KCM. His fans, who had been excited to see him on stage again, are now grieving his loss.
Famous for his strong vocals and emotional songs, Wheesung became popular with hits such as “Is It Not Possible?,” “With Me,” “The Day We Meet Again,” “Terminal Illness,” and “In A Year.” He was considered one of South Korea’s best R&B artists, leaving a lasting mark on the music industry.

However, his career also had its struggles. Wheesung was once linked to the illegal use of propofol, a strong anesthetic drug that some people misuse. Between 2011 and 2013, he admitted to using it for medical reasons, including treatment for back pain and hair loss. He was cleared of charges in 2013. However, in 2021, he was found guilty of drug use and sentenced to one year in prison.
As investigations continue, fans and fellow artists remember Wheesung for his music and talent. His passing is a sad reminder of the difficulties many artists face behind the spotlight.
