Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Reacts To Sen. Imee Marcos’ Senate Probe over Dad Rodrigo’s Arrest
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President expressed her gratitude to Senator Imee Marcos for opening a Senate inquiry on the arrest of her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The March 11 arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte by the authorities of the Philippine National Police (PNP) did not only shocked the Filipino people but also sparked a lot of questions. There are doubts on the legality of arrest warrant as well as the presence of the due process during the arrest.

Amid the questions and the criticisms towards the government for acting on the arrest warrant against the former President, Malacañang stressed that the government only did its job. According to the Palace, it moved as part of its commitment with the Interpol.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that the government followed the legal process in Duterte’s arrest. The Chief Executive broke his silence on the issue after the plane carrying the former President to The Hague, Netherlands via Dubai has left the country.

Marcos Jr. earned a lot of criticisms over the issue. Senator Bato dela Rosa even called Duterte’s arrest as “betrayal to the max” by Marcos Jr. According to the Senator, the President allegedly did not stand by his words that he will not allow the ICC in the country.
Unexpectedly, presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos who was shocked by Duterte’s arrest led a Senate investigation on the matter. There were also several instances when Marcos skipped the Alyansa campaign rally led by her brother, President BBM.
At the Cavite campaign rally of the grand alliance, Pres. Bongbong Marcos skipped mentioning Sen. Imee Marcos. It was not clear if the Chief Executive only unintentionally missed to mention the name of his sister but he mentioned senatorial aspirant Camille Villar who was also not present at the campaign sortie.

It is no secret to the public that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is friends with Sen. Imee Marcos. The Vice President previously revealed that it was the Senator who is really her friend and not the Chief Executive.

Recently, during an interview with the press at The Hague, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed her gratitude to Sen. Imee Marcos for leading a Senate inquiry on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. Based on a video of the interview posted by GMA News, she is thankful to the Senator that the issue is also being talked about inside the government and not just outside.
“It’s sad that this happened to Sen. Imee Marcos pero I truly appreciate the fact that she opened a Senate inquiry on the illegal arrest of Pres. Duterte. On that point nagpapasalamat ako dahil napapag-usapan siya sa loob ng gobyerno hindi lang sa amin dito sa labas,” she said.
However, during the interview, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed that it is the call of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte if the PDP-Laban will adopt Sen. Imee Marcos who is seeking for reelection. The political party’s president Sen. Robin Padilla wanted to talk to former Pres. Duterte over the election plan of their party.
