VP Sara Duterte Speaks on Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte amid his Detention

SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President spoke about former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is currently detained in the Hague Penitentiary Institution in Netherlands.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) welcomed the arrest of former Pres. Duterte. It is no secret to the public that the international court has long wanted to investigate the war on drugs of the Duterte administration.

More than a week ago, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who just arrived from Hong Kong was arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) at the airport. It was over the warrant of arrest issued by the ICC.

Duterte was immediately sent to the Hague, Netherlands on the same day of his arrest. He was accompanied by former executive secretary Salvador Medialdea and two others in the plane.

According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Honeylet Avanceña, Duterte’s partner, allegedly refused to go with him for having no passport. Thus, the authorities replaced her with Medialdea. As of this writing, only the former Executive Secretary and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte were able to personally talk to former Pres. Duterte since his custody was transferred to the ICC.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke about former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte amid his detention under the custody of the ICC in the Hague, Netherlands.

According to Vice Pres. Duterte, the former President is staying at the hospital facility of the Hague Penitentiary Institution. She expressed that Duterte was not released by the doctors. Meanwhile, Vice Pres. Duterte assured that the doctors inside the detention facility already have a copy of the medicine prescriptions of former Pres. Duterte.

Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also shared that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is “charming” the detention staff inside the facility. According to the Vice President, based on what she knows, the detainees inside the facility all have rooms of their own, thus, she is not sure if they meet or come across each other in the hallways or other areas inside.

“I have to tell you: he is charming everyone inside. It’s his style, eh. He’s very friendly with people inside. Mayroon na silang banter [detention staff],” Duterte said.

Following the arrest of the former President, ex-presidential spokesperson Harry Roque who said he will join Duterte’s legal team was once again spotted in public. Roque claimed he will seek asylum in the Netherlands.
