Omar Baliw Sues Quiboloy Over Unauthorized Song Use
OMAR BALIW – The rapper has filed a case against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy for using his song without permission. The issue arose when Omar’s track, “K&B,” was used and altered for Quiboloy’s proclamation rally in Pasig City.
Omar’s lawyer revealed that they had only one online meeting with Quiboloy’s team regarding the matter but never received any follow-up. Frustrated by the lack of response, Omar decided to take legal action. He expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that artists deserve respect for their work.
On February 13, Omar posted a video on Facebook showing the campaign jingle that copied the beat of his song. In his caption, he wrote, “Di pa nakaupo, nagnakaw na agad. Wala kaming kinalaman dito. Pwede ba ‘to ipa-barangay? Hahaha. Awit.” His post quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions—some found it humorous, others mocked the situation, while many criticized the unauthorized use of his music.

This controversy also highlighted the importance of respecting original content, especially in political campaigns. In October 2024, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) reminded political candidates to seek permission before using songs and other materials for promotional purposes.
As of now, Quiboloy’s team has not released any statement regarding the issue.
