Mother of Gold Dagal Mourns His Tragic Death
JOCELYN CRUZ – The mother of stand-up comedian Gold Dagal, shared her deep sadness on Facebook after the tragic death of her son.
Gold was shot in Pampanga, and despite doctors’ efforts to save him, he passed away nine hours later. Jocelyn believes that a hired gunman was behind the attack and called those responsible cowards who could not stand up for themselves.
According to Jocelyn, Gold had been receiving threats after one of his comedy shows, where he spoke openly about certain issues. His style of humor involved making jokes about serious topics to challenge how people think. She explained that his roast-style performances were meant for mature audiences who understood this kind of comedy. However, some people got offended and may have planned to harm him.

In her emotional post, Jocelyn shared the painful moments before Gold’s passing. She said doctors tried many times to bring him back as he suffered multiple heart attacks. She described her son as someone who was always brave in expressing his thoughts but was also very loving and kind to his family.
Gold was passionate about his work and wanted Filipinos to learn to take jokes lightly. He created Roast Battle to help people discuss difficult topics in a fun and safe way. Jocelyn had often warned him that making jokes about serious matters could upset some people, but he stayed true to his passion.

Beyond being a comedian, Gold was a devoted son and brother. Jocelyn described him as respectful, caring, and always ready to help. He was his grandparents’ first grandchild, a responsible older brother, and the person who brought the most joy into her life. Even though his life was short, she believes he lived with purpose, always putting his family first and bringing laughter to others.
Jocelyn ended her message with a tearful goodbye, saying she would always miss her son but finds peace in knowing he is now reunited with his father.
