Security Guard Accused of Harming Dog in Laguna
LAGUNA – A dog that entered a subdivision in Biñan tragically lost its life after allegedly being struck on the head by a security guard.
CCTV footage showed the dog entering the subdivision in good condition, with no signs of injury or weakness. However, a later recording captured the security guard dragging the now-unresponsive dog toward the entrance.
Two concerned residents, upon seeing the dog in distress, immediately attempted to take it to a veterinary clinic for medical attention. Unfortunately, the dog had already passed away before they could get help.

When confronted, the security guard claimed the dog already had a head injury when it entered the subdivision. He also denied harming the animal, stating that he only moved it outside the premises. However, the CCTV footage and the dog’s condition raised doubts about his statement.
The incident has sparked outrage and discussions on animal cruelty, as well as the proper handling of stray animals by security personnel. Local animal welfare groups have called for an investigation to determine if the security guard was responsible for the dog’s fatal injuries. If found guilty, the guard could face legal consequences under the Animal Welfare Act of the Philippines.

Previously, an Aspin named Tiger died after being stabbed in the belly at a public market in Subic, Zambales. The dog was accused of taking meat from a vendor’s stall. Witnesses saw the injured dog approach people before succumbing to its wounds.
Authorities arrested the vendor, while PAWS strongly condemned the act as animal cruelty. The organization urged the public to report similar cases, warning that violence against animals can also indicate a risk to people.
