A lovely couple was stunned as a magnitude 5.4 earthquake shook their wedding in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.
On Tuesday morning (March 4, 2025), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Matanao, Davao del Sur. The tremor happened around 9:42 a.m. at a depth of 10 km.

During an earthquake, it is crucial to remember the safety protocol: Duck, cover, and hold. Protect your head by ducking, take cover under sturdy furniture like a table, and hold on until the shaking stops.
After the tremor, evacuate immediately and stay away from tall structures or objects that might collapse.

Magsaysay Mayor Ronie Sarande officiated the wedding when the tremor was felt. Despite the unexpected shaking, no one was injured, and the ceremony continued after the situation stabilized.
Fortunately, the wedding concluded without further issues, leaving the newlyweds with an unforgettable story of resilience on their special day.
Sarande has advised various local government offices, particularly the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Office, Municipal Engineer’s Office, and Bureau of Fire Protection, to thoroughly inspect establishments, especially schools, for possible effects of the earthquake.
