Bam Aquino Gains Support from It’s Showtime Host Anne Curtis

ANNE CURTIS – The It’s Showtime host has expressed her support for senatorial candidate Bam Aquino.

On Thursday, March 4, Anne reshared a post by stand-up comedian Alex Calleja on X (formerly Twitter). The post highlighted Aquino’s role in passing the law that provides free tuition in state universities and colleges.

Calleja’s post read, “Bakit si Senator Bam Aquino? Libreng Tuition! Daig pa ang ayuda, kinabukasan ng inyong mga anak ang makikinabang!” He also encouraged people to consider Aquino when voting.

Anne enthusiastically responded with a simple “Yes!!!”—a reaction that quickly sparked various responses from netizens. Many agreed with her support, commenting: “t’s a YES for me,” “Yes na Yes” and “We need Bam again in the senate Sana manalo sila ni Sen kiko.”

Some users also took the opportunity to recommend other candidates, such as former Commission on Audit Commissioner Heidi Mendoza. Others personally thanked Aquino for the free tuition law, sharing how it helped their children finish their education.

Anne’s post also received praise from supporters who appreciated her using her platform for advocacy. One comment read, “salamat aning @annecurtissmith for using your platform. We love you”

Bam Aquino previously announced his candidacy in May 2024, stating that his priorities include addressing rising prices and improving wages. His re-election bid has gained traction, especially among those who benefited from his previous policies.

Meanwhile, Bam Aquino, whose full name is Paolo Benigno Aguirre Aquino IV, is a former senator who served in the Philippine Senate from 2013 to 2019. He is the nephew of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. and the first cousin of the late President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. During his time in the Senate, he advocated for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), job creation, and consumer protection.
