Update on Pope Francis amid Hospital Confinement in Rome
POPE FRANCIS – The Roman Pontiff believes that he will not live longer amid a battle with pneumonia in both of his lungs now.
Across the globe, the Roman Catholic is the church with the biggest number of devotees for centuries now. There are millions of Catholics in most nations and the churches are under the instructions of the bishop of Rome, the Pope.

The Pope is also sometimes called the Roman Pontiff, the sovereign Pontiff, or the Supreme Pontiff. Currently, the Roman Pontiff is Pope Francis. He sat in the Roman Catholic Papacy last March 13, 2013 at Vatican City State. He is the third Pope to have visited the Philippines.

Unfortunately, currently, Pope Francis is not in a good state. Last February 14, 2025, he was confined in the hospital due to chest pains. He remains admitted in a hospital in Gemelli in Rome, Italy until now.

However, based on an article on Pep, the Pope’s health condition remains complex. He was diagnosed with pneumonia in both of his lungs and his asthmatic bronchitis is making it more challenging to deal with. The Roman Pontiff is currently 88 years old and he had a part of his lungs removed when he was younger which add up on the odds he’s facing now.
“I might not make it this time,” the Roman Pontiff said to two people.
As per the report, amid the unfortunate situation of Pope Francis right now and his belief that he won’t live longer, wake and burial preparations are already taking place. Swiss newspaper Blick reported that the Swiss Guard which is on top of ensuring the security of the Pope is now under a curfew over the possible death of the Roman Pontiff.
Vatican is reportedly preparing for the funeral rehearsal for the Pope in case he won’t make it. The Roman Pontiff previously said that his burial site is ready in case death happens.
The real name of Pope Francis is Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He was the third Roman Pontiff to have visited the Philippines. He came to the country in 2015.
Pope Paul VI was the first Sovereign Pontiff to have visited the Philippines in 1970 and the visit was followed by Pope John Paul II who came to the country twice. He first visited the country in 1981 and returned in 1995.
The current hospitalization of Pope Francis is not his first as he was also hospitalized in 2023.
