Crist Briand Issues Apology to Quiboloy and KOJC
CRIST BRIAND – The Davao-based content creator, also known as “Brader,” issued a public apology after facing strong criticism for a video he filmed on February 16. The video, taken near the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound, showed him demonstrating how to urinate near a highway, with Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s poster visible in the background.
Following the video’s release, Atty. Israelito Torreon, legal counsel for Quiboloy, demanded a public apology from Briand, warning that legal action would be taken if he failed to comply.
Atty. Torreon accused Briand of making defamatory remarks against Quiboloy, which could be considered libel under Articles 353 and 355 of the Revised Penal Code. Additionally, Torreon argued that urinating near the KOJC billboard could be classified as “Offending Religious Feelings” under Article 133, as the structure holds sacred significance for KOJC members.

The lawyer also criticized Briand for setting a negative example for the youth, adding that he should be held accountable for his actions. Torreon mentioned that a P10-million damage claim was being considered, along with possible additional charges.

Although the video has since been deleted, Briand received a demand letter requiring him to issue a public apology. In his apology, Briand expressed deep regret, stating: “My intention was for general entertainment only, but instead, it created a lot of divisiveness, and for that I deeply apologize to Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and the members of Kingdom of Jesus Christ.”
This is not the first time Briand has faced controversy. He has previously received backlash for content that many consider inappropriate. He has also had legal troubles, including being jailed for alleged involvement with illegal substances and facing criticism for making discriminatory remarks against an Indian student, whom he offensively referred to as “amoy sibuyas” (smelling like onions).
