The Interview by Julius Babao with Pepsi Paloma’s Friend, Coca Nicolas, Resurfaces
COCA NICOLAS – The interview by Julius Babao with the former actress and close friend of Pepsi Paloma has resurfaced.
In 2024, journalist Julius Babao conducted an interview with Coca Nicolas, a former actress and close friend of Pepsi Paloma, regarding the controversial case involving Joey de Leon, Vic Sotto, and Richie D’Horsie. The interview has since resurfaced on social media, reigniting debates about Pepsi’s life and the allegations she previously made.
In the interview, Coca disclosed an unexpected claim. She stated that the charges Pepsi filed were allegedly a publicity stunt orchestrated by their manager, Rey dela Cruz, to boost the group’s popularity. “Alam mo naman si Tito Rey.” Coca recalled Pepsi saying, “lahat gagawin niyan para sumikat tayo.”
Coca also reflected on her relationship with Pepsi, describing their bond as more than friendship—it was like sisterhood. Living in the same house strengthened their connection, and Coca expressed her willingness to defend Joey, Vic, and Richie. “Ako mismo, ako ang mag-prove na hindi po totoo,” she confidently stated.
The discussion also touched on personal memories of Pepsi’s struggles. Coca recalled how Pepsi often confided in her about feeling tired and longing for peace. One instance stood out—a visit to Olongapo where Pepsi’s mother refused to let them into her home, despite their bringing a gift of roast pork. Despite these challenges, Coca described Pepsi as a kindhearted and generous individual. “Mabait na kaibigan, mabait na kapatid, mabait siya, mapagbigay,” Coca shared emotionally as she reminisced.
Pepsi Paloma, whose real name was Delia Duenas Smith, gained fame in the 1980s as one of the “softdrink beauties,” a group of actresses known for their daring roles. Tragically, her life ended at just 18 years old, leaving unanswered questions and an enduring legacy.
