Francis Leo Marcos Withdraws from the 2025 Senate Race

Francis Leo Marcos Drops Out of His Senate Bid

FRANCIS LEO MARCOS – The businessman, philanthropist, and internet personality has decided to withdraw from the 2025 Senate race.

Francis Leo Marcos, whose real name is Norman Mangusin, was born on September 29, 1979. He is a Filipino businessman, philanthropist, and internet personality, best known for launching the “Mayaman Challenge” during the COVID-19 pandemic. The challenge, which encouraged wealthy individuals to donate to those in need, gained massive attention on social media, with one of his videos racking up 9 million views. This led him to create his YouTube channel, FLM COMEBACK, where he continued to promote giving back to the community.

Marcos started his charitable work in 2007, running the Optimum Eye Care Program, which helps provide eyeglasses to people who can’t afford them. However, his efforts have been clouded by controversy. In 2020, he was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for allegedly distributing eyeglasses without the proper authorization, violating the Revised Optometry Law. He has also faced accusations of child trafficking, which he firmly denies.

In politics, Marcos has tried to make a mark. He ran for the Philippine Senate in 2013 but was disqualified due to his age. He ran again in the 2022 elections but fell short, securing over 4.5 million votes and placing 27th.

He claims to be related to the Marcos political family, though this has been denied by Imelda Marcos. Despite the controversies and challenges, Marcos remains a prominent figure in both business and politics, all while being married to Mayu Murakami.

Apparently, Francis Leo Marcos will no longer pursue his political career after withdrawing from the 2025 Senate race. He personally went to Palacio Del Gobernador to file his certificate of withdrawal.
