Darryl Yap Pens Open Letter to Arnold Clavio Over Pepsi Paloma Movie

Open Letter from Darryl Yap to Arnold Clavio Over Pepsi Paloma Movie

DARRYL YAP – The controversial director took to social media, where he penned an open letter addressed to veteran broadcaster Arnold Clavio following his criticism of the movie about Pepsi Paloma.

His open letter to Arnold Clavio is a response filled with frustration, as he defends his film The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma against Clavio’s criticism. Yap begins by acknowledging Clavio’s right to share his opinion but immediately questions why Clavio feels the need to push for the film’s censorship before it even reaches the MTRCB (Movie and Television Review and Classification Board).

Yap feels this move is not just an attack on his creative work but also undermines the credibility of the MTRCB and its chairperson, Lala Sotto. He defends her, pointing out her history of fairness and integrity, and suggests Clavio’s comments unfairly portray her as someone who might be easily swayed or have something to hide.

Yap also addresses Clavio’s concern about the film’s title, suggesting it’s unnecessary to focus on the full name when selling tickets or promoting it. He compares it to how people don’t say the entire title of The Chronicles of Narnia when buying a ticket, implying that viewers will likely refer to the movie simply as “Pepsi Paloma.” He believes this would ease some of the concerns about the title without compromising the film’s message.

He also responds to Clavio’s moral critique, pointing out the difference between his film and others that sensationalize real-life tragedies for entertainment. Yap suggests that Clavio is misjudging him by focusing on his film’s content without understanding its intentions.

In closing, Yap expresses that he won’t be lectured on morality and that Clavio’s criticism is based on unfounded accusations. He ends the letter with a sarcastic New Year’s greeting, signaling that while they may not agree, he is standing firm in his position.

Here’s the open letter of Darryl Yap to Arnold Clavio:

OPEN LETTER TO ARNOLD CLAVIO

“TICKETS PO…DALAWA…PARA SA THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE”

HAPPY NEW YEAR SA INYO NI ARN ARN.
