Cristy Fermin Slams Darryl Yap Over His Film About Pepsi Paloma

Cristy Fermin Reacts to Darryl Yap’s Film About Pepsi Paloma

CRISTY FERMIN – The popular showbiz columnist shared her strong disapproval of Darryl Yap’s new film project, “The Rap*sts of Pepsi Paloma.” The film, which has stirred controversy, tells the story of the tragic case of Pepsi Paloma, a famous ’80s actress who was allegedly rap*d.

In a recent episode of “Showbiz Now Na” on January 5, Cristy criticized the project and said that, while she sometimes appreciates Yap’s boldness, she cannot support this particular film. Cristy was especially critical of the film’s storyline, questioning Yap’s reasons for making it. “Natutuwa ako sa kaniyang mga atake paminsan-minsan. Pero this time, hindi mo ako kasama sa gusto mong palabasin. Ano ang gusto mo, Direk Darryl? Ang wasakin si Bossing Vic Sotto dahil sa tagumpay ng ‘The Kingdom?’” she asked, referring to the hit movie starring Vic Sotto.

Cristy pointed out that, even though they are both from Olongapo, Darryl Yap doesn’t seem to understand the limits of storytelling. She emphasized that there should always be respect when creating stories, and that filmmakers should not create films based only on personal interest.

The controversy around the movie grew when Yap dropped Vic Sotto’s name in a teaser, which led to more discussions on social media.

Meanwhile, Alexis John Romero, claiming to be the son of late actor Richie D’Horsie, expressed his anger upon discovering that filmmaker Darryl Yap was making a movie about his father without the family’s consent. Alexis criticized Yap, accusing him of disrespecting his late father. He also shared a photo from DivinaLaw’s office, suggesting he intended to pursue legal action against Yap. Alexis vowed to fight for his father’s name and refused to back down. As of now, Yap has not responded to the legal threat.

As of press time, Darryl Yap has yet to respond to Cristy Fermin’s remarks.
