Court Orders Darryl Yap to Remove Pepsi Paloma Movie Teaser

Court Orders Removal of Pepsi Paloma Movie Teaser

PEPSI PALOMA MOVIE – The Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) has directed director Darryl Yap and his team to remove the teaser and other promotional materials for his film, The Rap*sts of Pepsi Paloma. This action follows a petition for a writ of habeas data filed by actor and host Vic Sotto, who claims his privacy was violated by being mentioned in the film’s teaser.

Branch 205 of the RTC has prohibited Yap from sharing or distributing any promotional content related to the film. The court also ordered the removal of all materials already posted on social media, halting further sharing or posting of such content.

Atty. Enrique Dela Cruz, Sotto’s legal counsel, explained that the writ of habeas data was granted to safeguard Sotto’s rights, which were compromised by the teaser. He noted that the court’s order temporarily suspends the posting and sharing of these materials until the case is heard in court.

“May utos na po ang korte sa writ of habeas data na ito ay lumalabag sa karapatan ng ating kliyente kung kaya’t pansamantala ay grinant ang habeas data,” Sotto’s legal counsel, Atty. Enrique Dela Cruz, said. “Ibig sabihin ay tigilan muna natin ang pag po-post, pag she-share ng mga bagay na ito hanggang sa ito ay mapag usapan,” he added.

Dela Cruz emphasized that their petition seeks to protect Sotto’s privacy, as the rap* accusations are personal and sensitive. He highlighted that these claims have resulted in threats against Sotto and his wife, Pauleen Luna, and have led to their child being bullied.

Previously, Vic Sotto filed 19 counts of cyber libel against Yap due to the accusations and content in the film’s teaser. This legal action represents Sotto’s attempt to defend his reputation and protect his family from further harm. The court’s ruling aims to mitigate these serious concerns by halting the dissemination of harmful content while the case is under review.
