Arnold Clavio Reacts to Darryl Yap’s Film About Pepsi Paloma

Darryl Yap’s Film About Pepsi Paloma Earns Reaction from Arnold Clavio

ARNOLD CLAVIO – The veteran broadcaster expressed his views on the controversial trailer for Darryl Yap’s upcoming film, set for release in 2025. The trailer has stirred public debate after mentioning comedian Vic Sotto and the late actress Pepsi Paloma, also known as Delia Smith, in connection with a sensitive issue.

In his social media post, Clavio criticized the movie’s content, emphasizing that while filmmakers may invoke artistic freedom, it should not be used to bypass existing laws. He pointed out that unless there is an official court record to back the claims made in the film, such allegations should not be portrayed in this manner.

Clavio further noted that the issue surrounding Paloma and Sotto has been brought up multiple times over the years, often resurfacing during times of national controversy. He referenced a previous interview with Coca Nicolas, a close friend of Paloma, who stated that the issue was fabricated by their former manager, Dr. Rey Dela Cruz.

Meanwhile, Pepsi Paloma, a Filipino-American actress and dancer, rose to fame in the 1980s as one of the “Softdrink Beauties.” This group of actresses was known for taking on bold roles in films such as Brown Emmanuelle, Virgin People, and Snake Sisters.

Although she found success, Pepsi’s life was fraught with difficulties. In 1982, she accused three prominent comedians—Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and Richie D’Horsie—of molesting her. However, she later dropped the case, allegedly due to pressure and intimidation, and the accused comedians issued public apologies.

Tragically, Pepsi’s life ended on May 31, 1985, when she was discovered dead at 18, with reports suggesting she may have taken her own life. Her untimely death is believed to have been influenced by the emotional trauma and pressure she endured, and her story continues to fuel ongoing discussions about justice and the protection of individuals in the entertainment industry.
