Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s Lawyer Confirms Non-Attendance of the VP at NBI Investigation
SARA DUTERTE’S LAWYER – The legal counsel of the Vice President arrived at the NBI headquarters and confirmed that the VP could not attend the investigation.
Vice Pres. Duterte is undeniably the center of issues in the political arena for a few weeks now. She and her office are being questioned about the spending of the OVP Confidential Funds. Her recent remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos also earned different reactions from the people.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte threw “threats” against the lives of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez in case an alleged plot against her succeeds. Many people including the authorities tagged it as a national threat while the Vice President insisted that there is no active threat in her statement.
The National Bureau of Investigation or NBI issued a subpoena for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte over her remarks against the Marcoses. However, the Vice President was not able to attend the November 29 probe that was seat by the investigation bureau.
Before November 29, Duterte already said that she will prioritize her presence at the House panel hearing where some of her staff members in the Office of the Vice President (OVP) will appear. However, the reason of the Vice President did not sit well with the House panel so they decided to cancel the hearing so it won’t be used as an excuse.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s lawyer wrote to NBI and relayed the request of the Vice President for a copy of the questions that the bureau intends to ask. However, the investigation bureau declined to give the Vice President a copy of the questions they want to ask.
The NBI investigation was rescheduled today, December 11. However, the Vice President could not come. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s lawyer has arrived at the NBI headquarters and confirmed that the Vice President cannot attend the probe.
Previously, Vice Pres. Duterte explained that she will be at a thanksgiving party on December 11 and will go home to Davao City after the event thus, she cannot appear at the NBI headquarters. The Vice President also claimed that she will go home to Davao City after the event to attend the burial of her uncle.
Aside from the subpoena issued by the NBI, there are also impeachment complaints filed against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and she recently spoke on it.
