Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on NBI Summons over Remarks against Pres. Marcos
SARA DUTERTE – The Philippine Vice President explained why she will skip the investigation of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on December 11.
The Filipino populace has witnessed the souring relationship between Pres. Bongbong Marcos and Vice Pres. Duterte. Undeniably, it is unexpected towards many people most especially the BBM-Sara supporters because they made a victorious tandem in the 2022 Elections.
Vice Pres. Duterte has released tirades against the Marcoses. Previously, Duterte even claimed that she and Marcos Jr. have reached a “point of no return” to which he has reacted. The Vice President has left not only her position in the Department of Education (DepEd) but as well as the Marcos cabinet.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos undeniably had light reactions towards the previous tirades of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte against him — except for one of her recent remarks that seemingly sparked threat against his life. Even the authorities were hooked by the remarks of the Vice President.
Duterte claimed that her final wish if an alleged assassination plot against her succeeds is the death of Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
The National Bureau of Investigation or NBI issued a subpoena against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte over her remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The investigation bureau set the investigation on November 29 but the Vice President requested for its rescheduling.
Then, Duterte claimed that she will prioritize her appearance in the House hearing where some of the OVP staff members will appear for the probe. The House panel decided to cancel the hearing so she can attend the NBI investigation but she was not able to make it.
According to the investigation bureau, it was already late when Vice Pres. Sara Duterte found out that the hearing was cancelled. Based on a report on GMA News, the investigation was rescheduled on December 11. However, the Vice President said she could not attend the probe.
Duterte claimed that her understanding of thee explanation of her lawyers is that it is not compulsory for her to appear before the NBI. Based on the report, the Vice President said she can just submit a letter or an affidavit.
“Ang pagkakaintindi ko sa explanation ng mga abogado ko sa investigation ng NBI ay pwede namang hindi pumunta. Pwede naman magsubmit nalang daw ng sulat or affidavit,” she said.
Furthermore, the Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also explained why she cannot attend the December 11 investigation of the National Bureau of Investigation. According to the Vice President, they have thanksgiving activities on December 11. After the event, Duterte will be heading home to Davao City for the funeral service of her uncle.
“Pangalawa meron kaming thanksgiving na mga activities sa December 11, at pangatlo after ng thanks giving activities namin ay pauwi din ako dito sa Davao City para maglibing ng uncle ko,” the Vice President said.
Previously, the Vice President requested from the NBI a copy of the questions that they intend to ask her on the investigation. However, the NBI refused to grant a copy of the questions that they plan to ask Duterte.
