NBI Refuses To Take Letter of VP Sara Duterte as Sworn Statement
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President accused the probe of the National Bureau of Investigation as “unfair” saying they already have a decision.
Several previous statements of Vice Pres. Duterte against Pres. Bongbong Marcos did not receive a serious attention from the public and the authorities even though they sparked headlines. However, one of her recent remarks has greatly hooked the authorities.
Vice Pres. Duterte issued “threats” against Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ life as well as the lives of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. The Vice President denied it saying that there was “active threat” in her remark.
For the first time, Pres. Bongbong Marcos issued a statement amid the tirades of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Although he did not name the Vice President, he stressed that he will not let a threat to his life pass.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) vowed to check into the statement of Vice Pres. Duterte. The National Bureau of Investigation issued a subpoena against the Vice President requesting her to appear at the NBI headquarters and explain her remarks.
However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte skipped the initial schedule set for the NBI hearing. Then, the Vice President explained that she will prioritize her presence at the House panel hearing wherein her staff members in the Office of the Vice President (OVP) were set to make an appearance.
The NBI agreed to reschedule the probe yesterday, December 11. However, Vice Pres. Duterte still did not appear at the hearing. Her legal counsel, Attorney Paul Lim, came in behalf of the Vice President and submitted a letter.
In the said letter, it is stated that the Vice President denies the accusation against her over her remarks. The NBI refused to take the letter of the Vice President as her sworn statement. According to the investigation bureau, the absence of the Vice President waives her right to be heard in the probe.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte broke her silence on her absence at the NBI investigation. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President claimed that the investigation bureau allegedly already has a decision even before the investigation.
“I don’t think na patas ang imbestigasyong ito… We believe that cases will be filed… Kahit pa sabihin nila na may imbestigasyon, sa umpisa pa lang ay may desisyon na sila na mag-file ng cases,” the Vice President said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also stressed she will not hide or leave the Philippines in case an arrest warrant will be released against her. According to the Vice President, she has accepted that whatever will happen is God’s plan in her life.
