Kiko Aquino Dee, Ninoy Aquino’s Grandson, Speaks on Impeachment Complaint vs. VP Sara Duterte
Ninoy Aquino’s grandson Kiko Aquino Dee is one of the complainants behind the impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Despite Pres. Bongbong Marcos not favoring the impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, an impeachment complaint was recently filed against the Vice President. Marcos Jr. said that an impeachment complaint will only tie up the Senate and the House of Representatives and will not do the Filipino any good.
The impeachment complaint versus Vice Pres. Duterte was filed by 16 complainants. One of them is Kiko Aquino Dee, Ninoy Aquino’s grandson. In an interview with Karen Davila for the ANC 24/7, Kiko said that the complainants came from different civil society groups.
The grandson of the late former Senator and nephew of the late former Pres. Noynoy Aquino claimed that the complainants originally came together to talk about the EDSA celebration and their discussion led them to a “surprise Charter Change”.
“And now all of a sudden again, we have a Vice President that sort of dropped some very very grave and troubling words that I think changed the calculus for all of us… Painted a lot of her past actions a new light and we decided we have to act again so a lot of us came together to file this complaint,” Kiko Aquino Dee said.
Based on the interview, most part of the complaint against Duterte is not really about the remarks she threw but how she spent the money of the people. Ninoy Aquino’s grandson who is a teacher expressed doubts on why student seminars have to be under confidential funds.
“I’m not sure why you need to classify as confidential a sort of seminar for students. I mean I’m a teacher as well, that’s something that is very innocent, very transparent… It does not necessarily have significant sort of national security implications,” Kiko said.
Ninoy Aquino’s grandson stressed that they are not quite satisfied with the way the public funds were being discussed. During the interview, he claimed that he thinks that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is being allowed to evade certain questions regarding the funds.
Recently, it was also Kiko Aquino Dee who made a request not to mention their family amid the Marcos-Duterte feud. His request came after Vice Pres. Sara Duterte implicated the Marcos family in the death of Ninoy Aquino.
